A mural to commemorate 200 years of the RNLI has appeared at Halsden House Medical Practice.

The mural was funded by 26 Exmouth businesses and painted by Gary Cook (known in the town as Garf) to celebrate the town's RNLI in their 200th anniversary.

The artwork is now complete and will be unveiled at a launch ceremony on the junction of Imperial Road and Manchester Road at 11 am on Wednesday, January 17.

Also referred to in the town as the 'Exmouth Bansky', Gary Cook has murals all over Exmouth, including the dinosaurs on the side of the pavilion and nautical-themed paintings at The Pilot pub.

The town's RNLI have a series of events planned to commemorate 200 years of the RNLI this year. Stay tuned for more information on this in due course.

A spokesman for the RNLI said: "We will be taking part in our usual fundraising events at Fetes and bucket collections, but this year we will also be having some RNLI 200 events sprinkled in as well."

The official RNLI 200-year birthday is on March 4, which will be marked with a commemoration in London and some more events locally.
