Organisers have confirmed that a charity concert – held recently in Exmouth for Ukrainian families in need – raised a total of £2,000.

The Benefit Concert for Ukraine – at Exmouth’s Christ Church on Friday, February 23 – featured jazz and blues from the Paul Strange Organisation (PSO) and Blue Honey.

The show – with funds going to UNICEF and Samaritans’ Purse International – was a joint initiative by PSO and Christ Church.

The fundraiser was inspired by Viktoria, a Ukrainian mother who has been living with a host family in Exmouth. Donations were boosted during the concert when she spoke of the difficult conditions endured by Ukrainians during the conflict.

Bishop Josep Rossello, minister at Christ Church, thanked everyone who made the event possible, making it “a memorable evening”. He also said he was “touched by the generosity of so many to support Ukraine and stand with a nation that needs us more than ever.”
