Ray H Williams
Ray H Williams Ray was born in Barry and after Grammar School was called into National Service. His prowess in maths and Physics and an excellent training course led to his being made Petty Officer Radar aged 20. He served for three years on the Belfast. Later after Universities of Wales, London and Connecticut, where he was sent by his then American company to study under Dr Joesph Juran. There he studied statistics as a subject for the first time. Dr Juran later became an authority in this field. After 16 years in Telecommunications in Liverpool he returned to his original calling - namely lecturing. With the new knowledge gained he worked in 14 countries - lecturing, conducting seminars and encountering analytical; work in major electrical industries, From the Arctic to the Amazon as he cheerfully put it. His sense of humour never faltered and many a social gathering would be regaled with accounts of his many adventures in far-distant places, some remote but harbouring new technology and experimentation. His main interest, apart from work, were Education, Politics and Finance. His chief amusement, pomposity and snobbery. His chief anathema, any coarseness in speech or behaviour. He was ever kindly, more inclined to compliment rather than criticise. His passing leaves an echoing void. Few could match his vigour, vitality and boundless spirit. Very much loved and missed by his wife, his daughter-in-law, three sons and two grandsons. He died 8th April 2017
