As East Devon gears up to help Her Majesty The Queen celebrate her platinum jubilee, we’ve been trawling through the archives to re-live times when the Royal Family have visited our area.

The Queen herself, who has given 70 years of service to the country, visited Devon and more specifically Exeter in 2012 as part of a UK-wide tour to mark her diamond jubilee.

People turned out in their droves to see The Queen who has accompanied by her late husband the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.

The Queen’s sister Princess Anne has also visited East Devon, as she was treated to a guided tour of Seaton Jurassic in 2016.

The Queen’s son Prince Charles visited Exmouth on a couple ocassions, firstly in 1977 and then again to mark the opening of the geoneedle at Orcombe Point in 2018.

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, visited the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines at Lympstone in 2018.
