Organisers of Devon County Show have announced an ‘unprecedented’ demand for their advance show tickets.
According to those putting the event together, sales are up 600 per cent year on year, as people rush to secure their attendance at this year’s show after a 25-month absence.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, last year’s show was cancelled.
The Show this year on July 2,3 and 4 will be the 125th in the Show’s history and will be the first County Show to make an appearance on the circuit in 22 months.
“People are champing at the bit to go to an event,” said Sam Mackenzie Green, Devon County Show Manager.
“This has been entirely reflected in our advance ticket sales which are by far and away the best we have ever seen.
“People recognise that they do need to book in advance, as we may not be able to offer on the gate sales this year in order that we can monitor numbers and record Track and Trace information to comply with government health and safety guidelines for outdoor events.”
The showground spans 83 acres, excluding car parks, and in fact has the capacity to accommodate close to our usual numbers even with social distancing in place.
Sam added: “We need to encourage our visitors to make use of the entire site, so are planning to spread attractions and activities right across every corner of the Showground.
“Our team of dedicated Covid Marshalls will monitor crowd density and ensure crowds don’t build up in particular areas.
“We don’t know at this stage whether there will be any on the gate tickets but with the way things are going it is looking unlikely.
“We are therefore encouraging anyone who wants to come to the show to book now to avoid disappointment.”
Tickets are available now from the Devon County Show website at www.devoncountyshow.co.uk. Adult tickets cost £20 in advance. Kids go free on Saturday and Sunday (£7.50 on Friday).
