Kick-Off For Kim was held on Sunday, in honour of 48-year-old Kim, who died from stage four ovarian cancer in 2015, leaving behind husband Adrian and son Finley, now eight. Her cousin, Kate Collett-Hughes, lives in Exmouth and organised the event, which received ‘overwhelming’ support. Kate thanked everyone involved, particularly sponsors and people who donated raffle prizes. She said: “It went really well; the weather was fantastic and we raised over £3,000. The football was played well with good sportsmanship. As a family, we are overwhelmed by the support of the local community and can’t thank people enough.”
Twenty-four teams competed and local businesses donated prizes and held stalls and other attractions on the day. The event raised £3073 for Hospiscare, which supported Kim during her final days.
