Morris dancers, woodwind performers and traditional Tudor dancers entertained crowds along the high street of the village, on Monday, August 27, marking 400 years since his death.
The event was organised by former head teacher, Charles Abram, and Maria Malinowska.
Charles said: “Rather than focusing on Sir Raleigh’s death, we celebrated his life; it was a huge success and got the whole village together and celebrating and enjoying the occasion.”
Just a few of the fun activities included children’s tug-of-war, duck race, Morris dancing and bell-ringing.

There was even a falconry display which served as a nod to Sir Walter Raleigh’s boat, the Falcon.
People also came in authentic Tudor costume.
Sir Walter Raleigh was born in Hayes Barton, near Budleigh Salterton. He was beheaded on October 29, 1618, under a sentence brought against him 15 years earlier for conspiracy against King James I.
