Former BBC radio presenter Howard James is joining Bay FM and from next month will be presenting the station’s Sunday morning show.
Howard, originally from the East Midlands, moved to Exmouth in the 1970s, where he has lived for 30 years.
In 1974, he joined Hospital Radio Exeter, where he stayed for 20 years.
Howard’s big break came around 1995 when he had a call to staff the phones for what was then the Late Night Southwest programme.
He then joined Daybreak on BBC Radio Devon.
Bay FM’s station manager said: “It’s amazing that Howard will be joining us; he is a really talented presenter.
“I know Howard from hospital radio back in 1978 and I have followed his career since then. He said then that Exmouth should have its own radio station, and now he is joining us.”
From October 11, from 10am to noon, Howard will be hosting the Sunday morning show.
The show will include music requests, chat and guest interviews.
Andy added: “He said he is really glad to be part of the team.
“He really loves doing local radio, and it will be great for the station and great for the listeners.
“Howard loves the fact Bay FM is hyper-local. It reflects the community and what is going on in the community and it is what local radio is all about.”
Nick Muir on Facebook said: “One of the best things that could happen! Wonderful coup for Bay FM.”
