Staff at Raleigh Manor Care Home held a summer fete to raise funds for the charity which saved her daughter.
Staff at Raleigh Manor Care Home ran a summer fete in celebration of their first birthday last month and chose to raise funds for the Devon Freewheelers, Blood Bikes. The fete was enjoyed by all those that attended and £202 was raised for Devon Freewheelers.
Kirstie Cobb, activities co-ordinator at Raleigh Manor Care Home in Exmouth was delighted to have the opportunity to be a part of the homes’ recent event to raise funds for the charity
Dave from Devon Freewheelers came to collect the donation and thank the staff and residents of Raleigh Manor Care Home for their contribution.
Kirstie told Dave of her personal story of how the Blood Bikes had saved her daughter at birth when it was discovered she suffered a rare blood disorder that required urgent platelet transfusion from Bristol Hospital in 2014.
Dave, volunteer rider for Devon Freewheelers said: “it was always very special to meet the people that they save. Most of the time we are just meeting the medical professionals involved.”
Valerie Russell, General Manager at Raleigh Manor Care Home, said: “Having the summer fete has been a huge amount of fun and everyone at the home is always keen to support this fantastic charity in any way we can. We are very glad to be able to do our bit to raise further awareness and money for the charity.”
