The Sidmouth and East Devon walking festival started this week, with a week of walking events planned for members.
The Sidmouth and East Devon walking festival is a six-day festival of walks, and it kicked off on Sunday, (September 18) with three different walks; the Sid valley ring, a walk on Aylesbeare common and a special interest walk with a tree enthusiast who talked about some of the finest trees in central Sidmouth.
The week will continue with a variety of walks around East Devon. Today, (September 19), a group of 21 walkers set off from Exmouth on the first leg of the East Devon Way. The East Devon Way is a 38-mile-long trail and runs from Exmouth to Lyme Regis. Walkers will complete the walk over five days is offered each year in September as part of the Sidmouth and East Devon Walking Festival.
The walking festival is organised by East Devon Ramblers, supported by Sidmouth Town Council and East Devon AONB. East Devon Ramblers meets three times a week throughout the year.
