The Point Bar and Grill in Exmouth Marina has won a regional award for the best casual dining.
The restaurant won Best South West Casual Dining at the 2022 Taste of the West Awards for the best South West Casual dining award.
The annual presentation lunch returned after a three-year absence, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event took place at The Great Hall of Exeter University on Tuesday, September 13. Celebrations commenced at 11.30am with a drinks and canapé reception in the University Forum, followed by a delicious sit-down West Country lunch, where guests enjoyed a wealth of this year’s award-winning products.
The Point are triple gold winners with a Food Drink Devon Gold Award for Hospitality 2021 and a Taste of the West Gold Award for Casual Dining 2021 and 2022, together with an Exmouth Business Award for Best Café/Bar/Restaurant and a Taste of The West Silver Award in 2018.
Speaking about The Point Bar and Grill, the judges said: “Excellent food, exactly the sort of place that you hope to discover when exploring new places. Having this on our doorstep is a real treat and I would expect more people to start knowing about this little gem outside of their local Exmouth clientele. I will certainly be back soon! Well done."
Richard White, owner of The Point Bar and Grill said: “It was an amazing thrill to win the award. Having won gold earlier in the year, to go on and win Best South West Casual Dining was just incredible. Against some very strong competition too which makes it all the more special.
“It's a testament to the incredible hard work that the team has put in, not only this year but over the previous few years too. We've had many obstacles to negotiate, and they have come through it all with flying colours.
“We have been blessed with several gold and silver awards over the last couple of years to be judged best in the southwest is on another level! We'll certainly be entering again next year, let's hope we can make it two in a row.”
