Budleigh Salterton will hold its first 2023 market at the end of this month.
Budleigh Salterton Market offers the community the chance to buy fresh quality food with a known provenance directly from local farmers, growers and dedicated small artisan producers.
Established over 15 years ago, the market has a growing number of stallholders and attracts regular shoppers, as well as bringing extra visitors to the town who also support other local businesses.
The market also benefits from free nearby parking with regular bus services on its doorstep and has a growing number of stallholders at every event.
Jenifer Tucker, market organiser and local beekeeper, said: “There's a perception that they are more expensive than supermarkets, but unlike supermarkets, there's no middle man, so prices are very reasonable.”
“Buying locally is also good for the environment as it cuts down on the food miles and transportation of food. Coming out of Covid, the stallholders have adapted really quickly and the majority now take card payments and accept cash.
“We have a fantastic range of fresh local produce and we are always looking for new stallholders to join the market. Alongside the market, there is also a good variety of craft stalls. At the moment we have nearly 20 stallholders selling their produce and handmade crafts.”
Taking place on Friday January 27 from 9am until 1pm at the public hall on Station Road. The market is held on the last Friday of each month throughout the year.
