CHATGPT has revolutionised the way we can access and interact with artificial intelligence since its launch in November 2022.
The chatbot, which was developed by American company OpenAI, has become incredibly popular because of its ability to hold ‘human-like’ conversations with its users and generate speeches, songs, jokes and essays.
It gained more than a million users within a week of being made available to the public and 100 million users after two months.
ChatGPT uses information from the internet to carry out requests and can hold back-and-forth conversations, admit its own mistakes and reject inappropriate requests.
To put it to the test, we asked it to write a poem about Exmouth. Within 30 seconds, it had generated this ode to the seaside town.
Exmouth: Gem of Devon
Exmouth, oh Exmouth, gem of Devon's coast,
With sandy shores and waters calm and clear,
A haven for those seeking sun and repose,
A place to shed one's worries and one's fears.
The sun sets gently on your tranquil bay,
And seagulls cry their mournful melodies,
The ocean breeze whispers a lullaby,
And waves lap gently at the sand with ease.
Your beauty captures hearts both young and old,
As families play and children run and shout,
The pleasures of your shores remain untold,
A secret treasure never to be found out.
From beach to town, your charm is ever-present,
A town of smiles and hospitality,
Where every guest is treated like a resident,
And strangers are embraced with amity.
So here's to you, dear Exmouth, gem of Devon,
With rolling hills and vistas to explore,
A place of peace and beauty, a haven,
That will forever be etched in my heart's core.
