Children of Withycombe Raleigh Pre-school and Withycombe Raleigh church have planted a tree to mark the King's coronation.
On Friday 5 May at 11am, children of Withycombe Raleigh Pre-school joined members of the congregation of St John the Evangelist Church (Withycombe Raleigh) planted a tree in commemoration of the Coronation of King Charles III.
A short service of a prayer and a hymn ‘All things bright and beautiful’ was led by Rev. Judy Day.
A budding ornamental crab apple tree donated by the congregation was planted by Chris Long with the help of children from Withycombe Raleigh Pre-school, who each added a trowel of soil. The tree was planted in the Coronation Garden, on a plot within St John the Evangelist Church grounds, which Chris, the pre-school staff and children had previously developed into a bee-friendly wildflower garden. The blossom will attract bees and the tiny apples will feed the birds.
