A open air version of Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors is coming to Sidmouth and Exmouth this June.
Theatre company Rain or Shine will perform in Blackmore Gardens, Sidmouth on Friday June 9 at 7.00pm. Manor Gardens, Exmouth on Saturday June 10 at 7.00pm.
Gloucestershire based professional theatre company Rain or Shine are celebrating its 25th anniversary and has been hailed by 'The Stage’ as 'one of the best companies touring open air theatre', is set to delight family audiences once again this summer with Shakespeare’s comedy classic “The Comedy Of Errors”.
Once upon a Time, cruel fate decreed that a family should be torn asunder in a violent shipwreck. The mother lost to the waves, the father and one twin and his bondsman one way, and the other twin and his bondsman another… Years later, in search of their lost family, Antipholus and his bondsman, Dromio, arrive in the port of Ephesus, a city reputedly full of rogues, cheats and sorcerers. Although this is their first visit, merchants greet them as acquaintances, women pursue them as lovers, and everybody knows their names!
East Devon Events and Rain or Shine Theatre Company invites you to witness the comical confusion and chaotic capers of Shakespeare’s hilarious masterpiece.
Members of the audience commented on the play, saying: “Rain or Shine at their maniacal best yet again. Another master-class in multiple role-playing, expert timing, rapid costume changes, and all played out on their trademark minimal set. Vintage Rain or Shine that’s utterly hilarious sending everyone contentedly away into the night.”
Suitable for audiences from age 6 to 106, Rain or Shine aim to bring classical theatre into the heart of local communities as they travel across the country from June until September.
Audiences are invited to bring along low-backed seating or rugs, and a picnic to maximise their enjoyment of the al fresco performances. Full details of the full UK tour and venues can be found on the Rain or Shine website link and tickets can be purchased from www.rainorshine.uk, or by ringing 0330 660 0541.
