Exmouth RNLI volunteers went to the aid of a paddleboarder reportedly in difficulty off Budleigh Salterton this afternoon.
At around 3pm on Saturday, (October 7), the inshore lifeboat launched to rescue a paddleboarder in trouble about 500 metres due south of Budleigh Salterton beach off the Old Lime Kiln. The paddleboarder was not wearing a lifejacket.
The charity’s lifeboat, commanded by Helm, Guy Munnings, with crew Jason Luff and James Searle was already launched and headed to the location of the casualty. Beer Coastguard Rescue Team also assisted with the tasking.
Shortly after their arrival H.M. Coastguard stood down the RNLI crew after the paddleboarder self-recovered to the beach at Budleigh Salterton and was seen by the Coastguard Team. The lifeboat crew returned to Exmouth Lifeboat Station where they were back on service shortly afterwards.
