Exmouth's NatWest Bank at 11 Rolle Street closed its doors for the final time yesterday (Thursday, October 19).
In a letter on Wednesday (July 5), NatWest confirmed the bank will be closing and encouraged customers to bank online.
NatWest says that the nearest bank will be in Exeter.
The remaining banks and building societies in Exmouth are Nationwide and Santander, while some Post Office branches will also carry out banking transactions.
In a letter to Exmouth residents, NatWest said: “Closing a branch is a difficult decision and not one we take lightly. We understand that this branch closure may be challenging for many and we’re working hard to help prepare our customers, and our colleagues, for the closure.
“All your banking details including sort code, account number, standing orders and direct debits will remain the same and you can continue to use your debit cards, paying-in books, and chequebooks.
“Only the branch address on your statements and any new chequebooks will change. If you need to write to us, the address will be NatWest Exeter High Street, 59 High Street, Exeter, Ex4 3DL.
“We will introduce a community pop-up site following closure where a local colleague will be available to support face-to-face conversations around your day-to-day banking needs, support you with setting up and using our digital services, provide information and advice on how you can use your local Post Office for cash-based transactions, as well as provide advice on how to protect yourself against fraud and scams.”
