Exmouth's annual remembrance day service and parade will take place in the Strand on Sunday, November 12 from 10.25am.
The event is being organised by Exmouth Town Council and the Exmouth Branch of The Royal British Legion.
They will invite veterans, residents, local businesses and organisations to join them.
Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
We will remember the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism.
The Parade will be formed up by our Parade Marshal, Lt (SCC) Sarah Andrews, on Imperial Road at 10.25am and will proceed along Victoria Road into the Strand for the commencement of the service at 10:50am.
Exmouth Mayor, Councillor Olly Davey, Chairman of the Royal British Legion Exmouth Neil Gregory, Reverend Benedict Cambridge and Town Crier Roger Bourgein will lead the service at the War Memorial with the assistance of members of the Royal British Legion. The parade will also be made up of local cadet, scout and military organisations in the town.
Remembrance Day this year, falls on a Saturday, and remembrance Sunday is always held on the nearest Sunday to the 11th of November. The Royal British Legion launched their national poppy appeal at the end of October, which gives people to chance to buy a poppy from the British Legion website or from stands in local supermarkets, shops and stalls in the high street.
Members of the public are welcome to lay their own tributes on the South Side of the Memorial. Imperial Road, Victoria Road, Chapel Hill, Rolle Street and St Andrews Road will be partly closed to traffic from 10.15am to facilitate the Parade and some of the roads will not re-open until the event has concluded at midday.
