New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to five of East Devon’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.
Restaurants, cafes and canteens
The following ratings have been given to three restaurants, cafes or canteens:
• Rated 5: Fat Otter Ltd at 11a Yonder Street, Ottery St Mary; rated on October 25
• Rated 5: Ragini at 41 Harbour Road, Seaton; rated on October 20
• Rated 5: Royal Clarence at 1 Harbour Road, Seaton; rated on October 20
Pubs, bars and nightclubs
And two ratings have been handed to pubs, bars or nightclubs:
• Rated 5: The Blue Ball at Sandygate, Exeter; rated on October 25
• Rated 5: Kings Arms at 55 Fore Street, Seaton; rated on October 20
- Subway Sandwiches, a restaurant, cafe or canteen at 4 The Strand, Exmouth was given the score after assessment on September 28, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.
Ratings are a snapshot of the standards of food hygiene found at the time of inspection. It is the responsibility of the business to comply with food hygiene law at all times.
The scheme gives businesses a rating from 5 to 0 which is displayed at their premises and online.
5 – hygiene standards are very good
4 – hygiene standards are good
3 – hygiene standards are generally satisfactory
2 – some improvement is necessary
1 – major improvement is necessary
0 – urgent improvement is required
