A service commemorating Remembrance Sunday, took place on Exmouth Strand yesterday (November 11).
Large crowds gathered from 10am, and a parade from Imperial Road through to the Strand took place at 10.30am, which included the RNLI, Exmouth NCI, Royal British Legion, Exmouth Air, Army, Sea and Marine cadets, Exmouth Scout, Beavers and Guides.
They all marched and took their places in the Strand around the war memorial ready for the two-minute silence at 11am.
Once the two-minute reflection finished, a short service took place. Local dignitaries laid their wreaths on the memorial, including the town crier and mayor and deputy, a wreath was laid by Master Soloman Oliver on behalf of Simon Jupp MP and Eleanor Rylance and Cllr Nick Hookway laid one on behalf of East Devon District Council.
Dan Wilson, Exmouth District and Town Councillor for Halsdon laid a wreath on behalf of the Labour Party. Prospective Conservative candidate for Exmouth David Reed, members of the Royal British Legion and other groups in Exmouth also then paid then laid wreaths.
The mayor Olly Davey and his deputy then took the salute from members of the parade as they exited the strand after the service at around 11.30 am and headed back to Exmouth Town Hall.
