The indoor tennis courts at Exmouth Tennis & Fitness centre re-opened last week.
The courts have been upgraded from carpet to Proflex, with funding from East Devon District Council. The cushioned acrylic Proflex surface creates the ideal tennis court which is extremely durable and resistant to wear, making it last for years. Proflex has a cushioning effect which isn’t affected by wear or seasonal temperatures. The cushioning mat, which forms part of the flooring, comes with a uniform thickness, so wherever the ball bounces on the court, it will be a true bounce and is gentler on the knees allowing for more play.
Councillor Nick Hookway, portfolio holder for culture, leisure, sport and tourism, said: "I was delighted to open the Tennis Courts at the Exmouth Tennis Centre which have now been fitted with a much-improved playing surface. I hope that this investment, which forms part of East Devon District Council's Leisure Strategy, will see more people enjoying the benefits of playing Tennis not only for the sheer enjoyment of the game but also to improve their overall performance and fitness."
