A group of Beaver Scouts from Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton held a sleepover at Brixington Primary School last Friday (November 24).
They set up camp in the school hall and enjoyed movies and hot chocolate before bedding down for the night.
On Saturday morning they played some games and had breakfast before packing up to leave.
The indoor camping trip had been arranged between the Scouts and Brixington Primary's Head of Teaching and Learning, Stuart Dyer.
The Scouts' Active Support Manager Stuart Wilson said: "Our Beaver Scouts had a great time staying overnight at Brixington Primary. 'Nights Away' are a key part of the Scouting programme providing young people with fun and adventure, something which many haven’t had the opportunity to do in recent years. The school was the perfect environment for the activities we had planned. Special thanks must go to Mr Dyer for letting us use the school”.
Mr Wilson also thanked the leaders who came along to help, and added that Scout Groups across the District are in real danger of closing if more adult volunteers don’t step forward to help provide these kind of opportunities to young people. Anyone who is able to help can get in touch via the District website at www.exbudscouts.org.uk
