New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of East Devon’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them both.
Starbucks, at M H Property, Shute, Axminster was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on November 21.
And Tick Tocks Play Cafe And Day Nursery, at Tick Tocks Day Nursery, Weycroft Avenue, Millwey Rise Industrial Estate, Axminster was also given a score of five on November 21.
It means that of East Devon's 281 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 204 (73%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
An East Devon takeaway has been handed a new one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
Meyhane To Go, a takeaway at Glebe House, High Street, Newton Poppleford, Sidmouth was given the score after assessment on October 25, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.
It means that of East Devon's 91 takeaways with ratings, 61 have ratings of five and none have zero ratings
Ratings are a snapshot of the standards of food hygiene found at the time of inspection. It is the responsibility of the business to comply with food hygiene law at all times.
The scheme gives businesses a rating from 5 to 0 which is displayed at their premises and online.
5 – hygiene standards are very good
4 – hygiene standards are good
3 – hygiene standards are generally satisfactory
2 – some improvement is necessary
1 – major improvement is necessary
0 – urgent improvement is required
