A student from Bicton College has gained recognition at Crufts for her puppy grooming and handling skills.
Kathryn Sellick, who is studying Level Three Dog Grooming, impressed the judges by snipping and combing her poodle puppy Bueno.
She took first place in the 18-24 Young Kennel Club ‘Clip, Trim and Strip Grooming’ category qualifier at the event earlier this month.
She also entered the Club’s ‘Handling’ qualifier with Bueno and came second.
Kathryn said: “I’m so proud of this achievement and grateful for how Bicton College has prepared me for this remarkable moment on a national stage. Coming first in the ‘Clip, Trim and Strip Grooming' category qualifier and second in the ‘Handling’ qualifier has given me more confidence in my skills and talent.”
Having completed her Level 2 certificate for Dog Grooming Assistant at the college, Kathryn has recently started her own grooming business.
Dog Grooming Programme Manager, Tristan Emmett, said this is a ’great example of how Bicton College empowers students for success’.
He said: “As a college, we are incredibly impressed with Kathryn’s success, and strive to create a bespoke learning environment, ensuring each student is equipped with the best knowledge and training to take lead in their careers with pedigree of excellence.”
