A finance manager is facing jail after she ripped off her pre-school by defrauding it of £65,000 over five years.

Claire Precious, of Madagascar Close, Exmouth, Devon, admitted fraud by abuse of position when she appeared before Exeter magistrates court.

The 49 year old was employed as office and accounts manager at the Bassetts Farm pre-school between 2018 and January 2023.

The court heard Precious worked for the pre-school and took the money for her own personal gain.

District Judge Stuart Smith said Precious was in a position of trust and the fraud went on for a prolonged period.

The case was committed to the Crown Court for sentence next month and Precious was granted bail.
