An Exmouth waitress who says she ‘loves all her customers’ has become something of a local celebrity on Facebook.

A photo of Emmer Ley at work in the Prezzo restaurant was posted in the Exmouth Community Facebook group on May 11 by a customer who described her as ‘hands down the best waitress in Exmouth’.

In the days that followed the post attracted more than 1,200 positive reactions and 377 comments praising Emmer's warm personality and excellent customer service.

The comments included: “An absolutely lovely person with an infectious smile and a real can do attitude’  ‘Always super happy and friendly’ and ‘Always smiling and wanting to make sure all is good’.

Regular customers said they always made sure to visit on days when Emmer is on duty because she looks after them so well.

Emmer told the Journal she was overwhelmed by the number of responses and the fact that there was not even one negative comment about her.

She said: “Actually I think I’m quite an annoying person. I’m loud and bubbly and my personality can annoy people quite quickly.

“I’m very confident and friendly and outgoing, and I love customers, all of them, even the angry ones. Even the mad customers – I try to make them smile and be happy.

“I would have thought that I’d have had one comment saying something bad, but not one person has done that.

“Thank you so much to everyone, it’s really unexpected and I will try to keep on being me!”

The post and comments have now come to the attention of Prezzo’s managers, who featured her in their staff magazine with screengrabs of some of the comments.

An article titled ‘Emmer – Exmouth’s Viral Sensation’, said: "Emmer consistently goes above and beyond, showing pride in everything she does and creating genuine connections with all our guests She ensures every guest leaves wanting to return, spreading the job of Italian dining at Prezzo. Her commitment and passion have not gone unnoticed. Majo, our Regional Manager for the South Coast, said 'Emmer is our superstar when it comes to service, many customers mention her name in NPS (customer satisfaction) feedback. Now she’s a superstar in Devon’."
