The team at Hector's Deli at 11 Pankhurst Close in Exmouth is celebrating after being awarded a five-star food hygiene rating.

The establishment has been open for three years now. Owners Simon and Michelle opened in lockdown to serve the community with great food and this new food rating cements the fact that they are the best in Exmouth for baguettes, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, paninis and light bites. Or for the health-conscious, a great salad bowl.

They also serve hot and cold, home-cooked food and drinks and coffee from their place at Pankhurst Close.

Owner Simon said: "We are located out of town to avoid the hustle and bustle, and we have outside seating to enjoy your meal in the sunshine which is only a short walk from Sandy Bay Holiday Park in Ladram Bay.

"We are open every weekday from 8am to 2pm, for breakfast and lunch. Closed on Saturday and Sunday's.

Hector's Deli was last rated by the Food Standards Agency on August 15, 2023. Inspectors gave them a rating of good for hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and the management of food safety.

The National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme provides customers with information about hygiene standards in food businesses.

East Devon District Council Environmental Health Officers carry out food hygiene inspections of food premises according to the Food Law Code of Practice.

The scheme gives businesses a rating from zero to five which is displayed at their premises. A five star is the highest accolade for food hygiene.

Eateries are rated on the following factors; handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities, how food safety is managed. A rating of five is very good.
