Exmouth's Deaf Academy is holding a Sign Language Weekend for professionals event in June.
It takes place on Saturday 8th June and Sunday 9th June 9.30am for a 10am start, until 4pm
The sign language weekend for professionals aims to improve Deaf Awareness for local professionals who work to support Deaf children and young people in the community (teachers, social workers, GPs), or those who may offer support to local Deaf people in an emergency (police, ambulance, fire service).
Participants will learn basic signs, fingerspelling, useful phrases and Deaf Awareness. Sessions will be led by instructor Nikki, and inclusion officer Kate. Register your interest on the Deaf Academy website.
Some people who have undertaken the training said: "The trainers were outstanding. I now have the foundations from which to build on. There was a very nice and friendly atmosphere with everyone."
