Exmouth's Indoor Market has been trading since July 1980 and there are 50 stalls on site. Many traders extend their business as they grow and take over adjoining units. Even today you can still see some of the original stall holders that were there when doors first for the first time back in 1980.
Jeremy Miller, from the Indoor Market said: "We used to have butchers, bakers, greengrocers and a variety of other food stalls, we lost those after Tescos opened on the Salterton Road, so we are very proud that our Deli has managed to survive the rise of the supermarkets, economic downturns, recessions and Covid and is still trading today."
The market is open 9am to 5pm six days a week.
The National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme provides customers with information about hygiene standards in food businesses.
East Devon District Council Environmental Health Officers carry out food hygiene inspections of food premises according to the Food Law Code of Practice.
The scheme gives businesses a rating from zero to five which is displayed at their premises. A five star is the highest accolade for food hygiene.
Eateries are rated on the following factors; handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities, how food safety is managed. A rating of five is very good.
