Budleigh Salterton’s Big Breakfast, held on Saturday, May 25, has raised £2,726 for Cancer Research UK.
The event, which kicked off the town's Gala Week, attracted even more people than last year, probably because of the fine sunny weather.
Budleigh Salterton Lions Club supported the Big Breakfast by funding the use of the Public Hall, and an army of volunteers helped with the cooking and serving of breakfasts, and the washing up afterwards.
The kitchen team were led by chef Jennine Stogdon of the Pop Up Dining Room and her sous-chef Sarah.
Sue Hunt, Secretary/Events Manager of Cancer UK’s Budleigh Salterton Branch, said the fundraising was a ‘magnificent result’.
She added that the next big local fundraiser will be in the autumn. But, rather than the usual curry night, there will be an evening with a French cuisine slant.
This will take place on October 25, with further information to be announced nearer the time.
Sue said: “I hope that this event will be as well supported as our first and highly successful first event of the year.”
