A 'sinkhole' that appeared in Exmouth town centre last week has led to a road closure while South West Water repairs it.
The hole appeared last Wednesday afternoon (June 19) in Albion Street near the junction with George Street.
A spokesperson for South West Water said today (Wednesday, June 26) that their investigation had found a leak in a drinking water main in nearby Montpelier Road which had caused the sinkhole to open up nearby.
The road is currently closed at the bottom of Albion Street where it joins Union Street while repairs are carried out.
The spokesperson said South West Water can't give a timescale for the repair work, but is making every effort to finish it as soon as possible.
They added that customer water supplies are not affected by the problem.
