Hospiscare's area fundraiser for east Devon, Toni Hiscocks, has won the Fundraiser of the Year award from the Chartered Institute of Fundraising (CIOF).
The award was presented at the CIOF South West conference last month.
The CIOF's judging panel said Toni's 'dedication and passion have profoundly impacted Hospiscare’s patients and families'.
They said: “Over nearly a decade, Toni has consistently surpassed expectations, excelling in fundraising campaigns such as Open Gardens and the Reindeer Run, and raising an impressive £156,000 this past year alone.
"She established a new volunteer support group in Exmouth, shared her expertise generously with colleagues, and fostered strong partnerships in the community.
“Toni's innovative approach to donor stewardship and her ability to connect supporters have significantly boosted fundraising income and enriched the supporter experience. Her remarkable contributions, driven by her genuine passion for Hospiscare's work, make her a truly deserving recipient of this award.”
In response to her award, Toni said: "I feel very privileged to work for such a fantastic local and independent charity. I have such amazing work colleagues and I’m supported by our fantastic volunteers who work so very hard. I simply couldn't do this without their help.
“Thank you everyone for your ongoing support and a special mention to the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Southwest for such an amazing day – it’s one I’ll remember for a very long time.
“We must remember why we need to continue raising vital funds for Hospiscare. We need to be there supporting our patients and their families during the most difficult time of their lives.”
Toni has spent her entire career working in the care sector and joined the Hospiscare team in 2014, supporting patients at King’s House, the hospice’s centre in Honiton.
Working day-to-day with Hospiscare’s patients, Toni saw first-hand the impact of the hospice and how vital the fundraising efforts of the community are in keeping its doors open. In 2018, Toni joined Hospiscare’s fundraising team as the fundraiser for East Devon.
She said: "My job is to ensure that anyone who wishes to support Hospiscare, now or in the future, gets the best possible support. This could be health and safety advice for planned fundraising activities, creating posters, organising collection tins and T-shirts, providing social media support – the list is endless but our most important role is to say thank you and we say it a lot!"
