An afternoon tea party hosted jointly by Exmouth Museum and Exmouth Salvation Army raised £230, which was split between the two organisations.

Home-made cakes were served, along with tea and coffee, in the Salvation Hall near the museum in Sheppard's Row on June 19.

During the afternoon 42 people were shown around the museum by volunteers, and a raffle held there raised an additional £35.

A spokesperson for the museum said the event had led to 'friendships and closer ties' between the Salvation Army, Exmouth Museum and the rest of the Sheppard's Row community. They added: "We would like to thank everyone who attended and supported this event."

The museum was also represented at the Exmouth Rotary Classic Car and Motorcycle Rally on Saturday, July 6. The event was held in aid of local charities, in particular Hospiscare. Members of the team staffed a gazebo at the event and gave out information on the history and heritage of Exmouth. Items from the gift shop were on sale and an 'Open the Box' attraction resulted in two people winning £5 each.
