For a year, Exmouth's Specsavers Home Visits team has been providing essential eye care to those unable to leave their houses.
The sight-saving service has been a beacon of relief to hundreds of isolated people during the winter.
Over 1,656 home eye tests have been administered in one year.
Steve Dorrans, director of the Specsavers Home Visits team, said: "We are very proud that for the past year, we have been bringing important eyecare to people in and around Exmouth who are unable to leave their home."
He emphasised the importance of early diagnosis of serious eye conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
The team provides free comprehensive eye tests for people who qualify for an NHS-funded eye test.
The service is identical to in-store procedures, with slight alterations to accommodate the home environment.
Glasses have been dispensed to hundreds of those who can’t leave their home, and numerous referrals made for further treatment.
Joe Sutton, director of the team, said: "We aim to enhance people's quality of life as best we can so that they can continue to enjoy doing the things they enjoy."
The team is comprised of two opticians, four optical assistants and two office staff.
