The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital’s Project Play initiative has received a financial boost.
Persimmon Homes South West made the £1,000 donation after the hospital was announced as one of the housebuilder's Community Champions.
The funds will support the project aimed at enhancing the medical imaging department's waiting areas for young patients.
The intention is to make these spaces more kid-friendly, with the addition of toys, colours, and interactive activities.
These changes aim to provide a stimulating distraction for children, helping to ease the stress and anxiety commonly associated with hospital visits.
Rachael Bradford, trainee sonographer and co-team captain of Project Play at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, said: "Project Play’s big idea is to bring colour, fun, and imagination to the RDUH medical imaging waiting rooms.
"Research has demonstrated how play is vital in the hospital setting to reduce stress and anxiety for children and their families."
Ms Bradford also expressed gratitude for the contribution from Persimmon, which will help fund the first of the planned explorer-themed wall murals.
Stacey Harris, sales director at Persimmon Homes South West, said: "Our Community Champions scheme is all about supporting the areas we operate in, and the community champions who go above and beyond to support local causes.
"The work that Rachael, Lizzie, and the Project Play team do to improve the experiences of patients and children at the hospital is heartwarming, so we are delighted to support their ongoing fundraising."
Currently, Persimmons has three active developments in and around Exeter.
Quality homes are available at the sites, with prices ranging from £229,995 to £525,000.
