A Colaton Raleigh-based artist has a new exhibition opening next month.
Alan Cotton will present his latest work, 'Where the Light Takes Him', from September 4.
Mr Cotton's work has been showcased at David Messum Fine Art in the West End for more than 30 years.
This year's exhibition features many of his paintings inspired by Venice, Italy, and will coincide with the release of a film commissioned by Mr Messum.
Following the artist along Venetian canals, this film was directed by Mr Cotton's son, Richard, an actor and filmmaker at Fab Shack Productions.
The film captures the scenery of Venice before dawn, highlighting aspects of the city normally unseen by tourists.
Apart from Venice, other paintings in the exhibition are inspired by other places dear to Mr Cotton.
These include Ireland's west coast, particularly Achill Island, inspired by the landscape in the film 'The Banshees of Inisherin'.
Works depicting the landscapes of Provence, Piemonte, Cyprus, and Snowdonia will also be on show.
The exhibition will run until noon on Friday, September 27.
The Venice film and the paintings will be able to be viewed online at www.messums.com/alancotton.
