Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is holding an Open Day on September 1 at its HQ at Clyst St George.
Come along to the open day to see the emergency services crews in action. Activities taking place include emergency service demonstrations, fun and games for all ages, a BBQ and refreshments, live entertainment, abseiling and tours of fire appliances.
Entry is free. Donations will be in support of Hospiscare, Fire Fighters Charity and Fire Aid Nepal. This is an inter-agency event with the attendance of other emergency services, along with showcasing a variety of appliances from the service.
Throughout the day the fire appliances will taking part in demonstration. In addition the fire investigation arson detection dog “Jops“ and the “TOBY” the live scent dog will be taking part in two separate demonstrations.
Chief fire officer Gavin Ellis will be opening the event and throughout the day there will be entertainment with Street Heat, Exmouth Shanty Men, Devon & Somerset Band and a display by majorettes.
Hospiscare will run games including a coconut shy, spin the wheel and a huge tombola, plus a soft toys stand, cake stall and a BBQ.
There is also face painting, a bouncy castle and World of Country life with animals.
