Dear Editor,
It is becoming increasingly obvious that South West Water is unable to deal with the present sewage output in East Devon.
The sea and rivers are now regularly polluted, posing a health risk to resident and visitor alike and ruling out more and more often their use for leisure pursuits - and yet the relentless drive towards more and more housing continues, exacerbating the situation and delaying considerably any remote chance of a solution.
Is it not time that all this development was at least postponed (if not abandoned) until the sewage problem and the other well known deficiencies in our infrastructure are addressed and remedied?
Perhaps we should be putting the health and wellbeing of the local people before the acquisition of wealth by a few vested interests.
