The Halfords store at Liverton Business Park will close permanently to customers in a few weeks time.
A sign on the front door appeared a few weeks ago to say the store will close on Friday October 11.
Halfords say that they would like to 'thank all their customers for their support over the years of the store being opened.
The nearest store is at Rydon Lane Retail Park in Exeter, which Halfords say is around 10 miles from the store in Exmouth.
The reason for closure is because the lease has come to an end, and has not been renewed. The store in Exeter offers mechanics to help with minor repairs to cars, (windscreen wiper fittings etc), push bike repairs and sales, accessories, car care, SAT Nav devices and camping gear.
A Halfords spokesman said: “We can confirm our Halfords Exmouth store will be permanently closing on the 11th October. The store has closed as a result of the lease coming to an end.
“We are dedicated to supporting everyone affected and are optimistic that we can provide our colleagues with opportunities at alternative locations
“We’d like to thank all our customers for their support of the Halfords Exmouth store which has been serving local customers for 17 years and look forward to welcoming them at our nearby Halfords Exeter store located within a 22-minute drive.
"Halfords has been supporting motorists and cyclists for over 130 years, and we’re continuing to invest in our locations across the country. Halfords website says it is the UK’s leading retailer of motoring, cycling and leisure products and services.
Through Halfords Autocentres, it is also one of the UK’s leading independent operators in vehicle, servicing, maintenance and repairs. The nearest Auto Centre is on Alphington Road Exeter.
