Fire crews have tackled a cooker fire, and rescued a cat after a fire broke out at a house in Priory, Exeter this morning.

Crews were called at around 10.30am on September 27. Three fire engines were sent to a report of a cooker on fire within a domestic property. On arrival crews confirmed there was a fire on the ground floor of this property and requested a fourth fire engine.

Crews also rescued one cat from this property. The property was damaged by smoke and fire and the cause was accidental.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: We extinguished the fire using six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two thermal image cameras and a smoke clearance fan.

Fire appliances from Danes Castle and Middlemoor fought the fire which has now been extinguished.
