Artists and volunteers have paid tribute to a woman whose murals transformed Exmouth.
Gillie Newcombe, who died recently, was remembered fondly for her artistic contributions to the town.
Gathering near the Sensory Garden on the seafront last Thursday, people from Exmouth in Bloom, Exmouth Art Group, and Exmouth Sailing Club honoured her legacy.
Gillie's murals, designed and painted with Graham Bell, have become a notable part of the town's character.
These include the Jurassic mural behind Ocean and the award-winning Swan Project mural, which incorporated planting by Exmouth in Bloom.
Her other works include the Waves on the Walls by the Station and the mural in the Sensory Garden, which was a community project inspired by Gillie and brought to life by Exmouth in Bloom.
Gillie and Graham also painted scenes from the seafront and Exmouth landmarks for the Britain in Bloom National Finals entry last year.
This year, their mural on the walls of the GWRSA club was completed for the South West in Bloom judging in July.
Gillie's artistic vision has played a significant role in Exmouth in Bloom’s transformation of otherwise "grey areas" in recent years.
Her positive enthusiasm and joy will be fondly remembered.
