A community craft room is celebrating five years of creativity and connection.

Open Door Exmouth has announced the milestone for its craft room, which has become a hub of activity and social interaction.

The craft room, which started as a small gathering, now hosts two weekly groups, welcoming around 35 participants each week, and has become a lifeline for many.

Activities range from sewing and knitting to printing, drawing, and crocheting.

The craft room is open to all skill levels and promotes social interaction, helping to combat loneliness and isolation.

A spokesperson said: "The craft room has become a lifeline for many, fostering connections that go beyond the weekly sessions.

"Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced crafter, there’s always something new to learn—and new friends to make."

The craft room owes much of its success to a dedicated team of nine volunteers who share their expertise and create a welcoming environment for everyone.

The craft room is located at the Open Door Café, Church Street, and is open on Tuesdays from 10am to 12.30pm, and at the Old Gospel Hall, Hamilton Road, Exmouth on Wednesdays from 10am to 3.30pm.

The spokesperson added: "The Open Door Craft Room invites everyone in the community to come along and discover the joy of crafting.

"Whether you’re looking to try something new, meet new people, or just enjoy some creative time, you’ll find a friendly, supportive group ready to welcome you with open arms and a nice cuppa."
