The Environment Agency has issued a number of flood alerts for East Devon today, after the county was struck with heavy rain overnight.
Amber 'flooding is possible' warnings are in place for Hemyock, Cullompton, Stoke Canon, Broadclyst and Clyst St Mary, Lympstone, Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Honiton, Ottery St Mary and Sidmouth and Rivers Axe, Coly, Yarty, Umborne Brook and coastal streams from Branscombe to Axmouth.
The EA says flooding is possible overnight tonight (Tuesday 15th October) and into Wednesday morning.
Heavy rainfall this evening and overnight tonight in the rivers above is expected to cause the rivers in the area to rise. This could cause flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river.
A spokesman said: "We expect rivers to remain high throughout Wednesday with further rainfall expected throughout the day.
"Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions.
"We are constantly monitoring river levels. This message will be updated on Wednesday morning or earlier if the situation changes."
