I have just read in today’s journal that under Section 106 agreements between developers and the council, money is provided for such things as social housing, school buildings, GP surgeries, parks and transport.
There are many complaints raised when new housing developments are built without adequate infrastructure, affordable housing, school provision, etc.
Devon County Council has £11 million from this fund which it has not spent on any of these much-needed projects.
I can only ask why and who is holding the County Council to account?
Why would you not invest in the community when money is there for that purpose?
If red tape is the problem, then someone should cut it.
