THOUSANDS of people packed out Exmouth Strand on Sunday (November 10) to remember those who have lost their lives in conflict.

The Remembrance Sunday parade started on Imperial Road at around 10.15am. The road was closed to allow the ceremony to set up and march onto the Strand. Rolle Street was also closed around 11.30am to allow the march to leave.

Members of the RNLI, Royal British Legion, Veterans, Exmouth Air Cadets, Army Cadets, local scout groups and other youth organisations joined the march from Imperial Road to Exmouth Strand to gather around the war memorial ready for the eleventh hour.

At around 11am, the Last Post played and the crowd and ceremony fell silent for two minutes to remember the people who have been killed in combat across the globe.

After the two-minute silence, each group began laying wreaths on the war memorial, Exmouth Town Council, the mayor and MP for Exmouth and East Exeter all laid a wreath, along with other groups and companies in the town.

The crowd then sung a few hymns and God Save The King, the music was provided by the Exmouth Town Band throughout the morning.

The ceremony finished at around 11.45.
