A photo group has won the first round of a competition.

Exmouth Photo Group hosted the first round of the South Devon League photo battle on Wednesday, November 13.

The clubs involved were Exmouth Photo Group, Crediton, Dawlish and Teignmouth, and Newton Abbot.

Each club submitted 15 prints, which were judged by Ian Gearing from Reflex Camera Club in Bristol.

Mr Gearing gave a lively critique of each print, offering compliments, suggestions for improvement, and points out of 20.

Exmouth Photo Group was declared the winner of the first round, with a total of 245 points and an average score of 16 per print.

John Wicket from Exmouth Photo Group came first overall with a perfect score of 20 for his print, The Moon's a Balloon.

Christine Chittock, chairperson, said: "A wonderful opportunity to view a great variety of prints whilst enjoying a fantastic spread of food and drinks at the interval."

The group now looks forward to the second and final round at Dawlish and Teignmouth Photographic Club in March 2025, when digital images will be judged.
