SOMERSET residents are being warned of icy stretches that could cause “difficult travelling conditions” as a cold snap hits the county.
The Met Office issued a yellow warning for ice for some areas of Somerset and the rest of the South West.
The warning will be in place from 5pm today (Thursday, November 21) until 10am tomorrow (Friday, November 22).
This comes after several weather warnings for snow, as a spell of rain and snow is expected to develop across southwest England early Thursday morning according to the Met Office from 5am to 3pm.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Icy stretches are expected to form on untreated surfaces during Thursday evening and overnight into Friday morning as temperatures drop below freezing.
“A few wintry showers are also likely at times, particularly across the far west of the warning area, which may give a further 1 to 2 cm snowfall above 200 metres.”
