The East of our region is producing plenty of Smoothhounds with the members of Exmouth SAC getting amongst them. Tim Parsons, Alex Webb and Dave Penny all catching them up to around 7lbs.
The same stretch of coast produced a fine Small eyed Ray of 10lbs 1oz to Tristan Rowe. The North coast continues to produce good fish with Aaron Colhoun landing a double figure Blonde Ray from the shore and the week’s best Smoothhound at 9lbs 5oz to the rod of Lee Algar.
Totnes lure specialist Tony White has been out and about around various marks with his daughter Ruby catching her first Bass and Tony landed a 6lbs+ Bass. The weekend saw the latest round of the South west Species League, the Best specimen was landed by Scott Clarke with a Pollack of 5lbs 2oz with Torbay’s Jason Upham landing a new personal best Gilthead Bream of 3lbs 3oz and a Bass of around 4lbs.
Boat Anglers report a great week with a Pollack of 14lbs and Paul Stagg landing a 5 ½lbs John Dory. A few anglers travelled to Penzance with Paul Millman getting amongst the Couches Bream and Lee Smith boating a fine fish of 4lbs 2oz. Tim Hulme caught a feisty Bull Huss of 11lbs.
Local angler Tom Stebbens fished the Florida coast whilst on holiday, landing a Nurse Shark and a Hammerhead Shark, both fish were released at the side of the boat.
Members of Honiton SAC fished their monthly species competition out from Beer in an Easterly wind. Notable fish were a 30lbs plus Conger eel to Richard Hill and a 1lbs 6oz Cuckoo Wrasse to Adam Squance, with Mark Bryce landing his first Cuckoo Wrasse.
Newbarn Angling Centre is fishing well with surface baits. Regular Bob Wooster caught a Common Carp of around 18lbs and Dean West landed one of 16lbs 7oz.
