East Budleigh Reserves produced an excellent display in Division 4 of the Joma Devon & Exeter League to defeat Witheridge 5-1.
Budleigh were ahead in 16 minutes with Dan Atkinson finding the back of the net. Budleigh’s second arrived when Ross Bright’s 30-yard dipping shot gave the visiting keeper no chance.
After the break, Ben Wiltshire played the ball through for Owen Corrick to nod over the advancing ‘keeper. Witheridge found some hope with a penalty but Budleigh turned on the style again with Corrick grabbing his second from a Tom Marker assist before Ben Wilks crossed for Atkinson to score.
East Devon football is mourning the passing of two legendary stalwarts. Mike Hoyle, known as Burt, was on the League and Cup committees for many years and, although a resident of Honiton, he was a huge fan of Lympstone Football. Much-loved football journalist John Lukins has also passed away and love and condolences to their families and friends.
