Exmouth Swimming and Life Saving Society ventured to Plymouth to compete in the recent Devon Sprint Gala at the new Plymouth Life Centre, writes Ian Laing.

It was a fantastic day of swimming with swimmers from all over Devon and was a very successful day for the Exmouth swimmers with personal bests swam by nearly ever swimmer.

Notable achievements were Heidi Schunck who had four consistent swims to finish seventh overall in the nine and under age group. Josh Smith in the 10 and under age group had a tremendous day winning third overall in his age group.

George Cromwell-Brown in the 14 and under won the fly and backstroke and was second in the freestyle to win overall in his age group.

Keira Jordan had a fourth place in the 13 and under girls breaststroke. Amber Morrison had a good swim in the girls 14 and under to finish fifth in the freestyle, going one better in the backstroke to finish fourth which led to an impressive fifth placed finish overall!

Liam Spillar was second in the 15 and under boys breaststroke and fly, third in the backstroke and finished with a win in the freestyle to take second overall in the age group.

Eve Birrell went one better to win the girls 15 and under after winning the 50m fly, freestyle and breaststroke.
